COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is especially suited for healthcare workers in hospital, community or aged care settings delivering direct care to clients. This course is written in line with national standards and evidence-based practices and is delivered by AHPRA registered nurses.  
Students will be taught to identify potential hazards in various healthcare settings and will come to understand the importance of safeguarding their own well-being, as well as that of their peers. The course will introduce students to best practices for ensuring safety at work, emphasizing the prevention of incidents. Students will also gain the skills to respond effectively to hazards, such as exposures to sharps or radiation. An essential component of students’ learning will involve understanding how to report potential hazards and actual incidents in line with organizational procedures. By the end of the unit, students will be well-equipped to actively engage in WHS consultative processes, contributing to a safer healthcare workplace. All learning will be contextualised to organisational policies and procedures.  
The program includes comprehensive online learning, alongside an engaging practical session where students can demonstrate their skills. Individuals who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
