COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is especially suited for healthcare workers in hospital, community or aged care settings delivering direct care to clients. This course is written in line with national standards and evidence-based practices and is delivered by AHPRA registered nurses. Students of this course will learn to safely and effectively:  
  • Recognize the importance of safe manual handling in healthcare.
  • Understand the biomechanics and anatomy of the spine to prevent injuries.
  • Differentiate between correct and incorrect manual handling techniques.
  • Gain proficiency in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting hoists and other patient-moving equipment.
  • Identify different types of hoists and their specific applications.
  • Prepare to implement falls prevention strategies
  • Identify potential risk of falls
  • Implement falls prevention strategies
  • Monitor falls prevention strategies
The program includes comprehensive online learning, alongside an engaging practical session where students can demonstrate their skills. Individuals who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
