COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is especially suited for aged care and disability carers or support workers delivering care through an NDIS provider or at an aged care service. This course is written in line with national standards and evidence-based practices and is delivered by AHPRA registered nurses. Students of this course will learn to safely and effectively:   
*Note that this course does not cover the dose calculations and administration of insulin or other diabetes medicines. 
Students will gain an understanding of the key differences between diabetes types 1 and 2. They will learn about the variables that influence blood sugar levels. The course covers approaches to regulate insulin levels, including the use of various insulin types such as fast and slow release. Students will be taught the signs and risks of fluctuating or low blood sugar levels and how to respond. They will also be introduced to common complications related to diabetes and the roles of specialized professionals, including podiatrists.
The program includes comprehensive online learning, alongside an engaging practical session where students can demonstrate their skills. Individuals who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
